Stoppages and Fierce Continental Clashes Highlight Day 2 at XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026

RAFAELA, ARGENTINA – Power punchers took center stage on Monday afternoon as Session 2 of the XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026 delivered dramatic finishes and statement victories at the sub-venue in Rafaela. Three bouts ended inside the distance alongside intense tactical battles across five weight divisions.

Host nation Argentina continued its strong run in front of the home crowd. Melanie Martinez opened the session with a thrilling 3:2 split-decision victory over Brazil’s Tatiana Chagas in a high-caliber Women’s 54kg contest. In the Women’s 65kg division, Argentina’s Lucia Muello followed with a unanimous shutout against Venezuela's Youly Leon.

Decisive referee stoppages punctuated the afternoon. In women's bantamweight action, Chile’s Denisse Vilches forced a Referee Stops Contest (RSC) stoppage in the third round against Ayda Rodriguez of Bolivia. Colombia’s heavy-hitting Jhojan Caicedo stopped Gonzalo Deleon (URU) in round two of their 90kg contest, while Brazilian super heavyweight Joel da Silva made quick work of Bolivia’s Miguel Pardo, halting the contest in round one (+90kg).

Venezuela posted a pair of dominant unanimous decision wins, led by Diana Marquez at W54kg over Uruguay's Antonella Barzabal and Alfonso Parra at 90kg against Argentina's Pedro Arjona. In the men's 60kg division, Bolivia’s Sergio Lopez earned a 4:0 points decision over Castro Vazquez of Paraguay, while Brazil's Luiz Oliveira controlled the ring for a 5:0 victory over Wilson Acevedo of Venezuela. Guyana's Emmanuel Pompey rounded out the contested 90kg bouts with a clinical 5:0 sweep of Jimmy Nuñez (BOL).
