Six Pan American Boxers Advance to the Finals in Guiyang Following Explosive Semifinal Action

GUIYANG, CHINA – Panamerican Boxing Confederation (PBC) is thrilled to announce that an incredible contingent of six elite boxers from the Americas have punched their tickets to the gold-medal finals at the World Boxing Cup - Stage 2 in Guiyang, China. Following a dramatic day of world-class semifinal action across Session 12 and Session 13, our regional powerhouses demonstrated unmatched resilience, technical superiority, and championship heart to secure their spots on the ultimate stage.

Semifinal Session Highlights & Results

The June 20 semifinal sessions provided unforgettable theater in both Ring A and Ring B:

  • Women's 65Kg: Two-time Olympic medalist Beatriz Ferreira (BRA) showcased her trademark power, backing up Kazakhstan's Aida Abikeyeva with explosive combinations to claim a dominant unanimous decision win.

  • Women's 75Kg: Tammara Thibeault (CAN) put on a clinic of ring generalship, utilizing elite footwork and highly precise counter-punching to shut down Poland's Agata Kaczmarska for a unanimous decision victory.

  • Men's 55Kg: Lorenzo Patricio (USA) staged an unforgettable comeback, roaring back in the final rounds to defeat India's Nikhil Nikhil in a spectacular unanimous decision triumph.

  • Men's 60Kg: Luiz Gabriel (BRA) put on a defensive masterclass, dictating every second of the bout to secure a flawless unanimous decision victory over England's William Hewitt.

  • Men's 65Kg: Marcus Luther (USA) kept his gold-medal dreams alive with a sensational, come-from-behind unanimous decision victory over Iran's Ali Habibinezhad.

  • Men's 80Kg: Wanderley Pereira (BRA) completely outclassed South Korea’s Minseong Kim, earning a comprehensive clean sweep from the judges to cruise into the final round.

The continent also witnessed an incredibly courageous performance in the super heavyweight division, where Joel Ramos (BRA) pushed top-seeded Kazakh star Aibek Oralbay to the absolute limit, ultimately dropping a razor-thin 3:2 split decision in a bout that kept fans on the edge of their seats. Additionally, Mexico's Fatima Herrera (48Kg) took home a well-earned bronze medal after falling just short in a tight 2:3 split decision against India's Jyoti Jyoti.

The Quest for Gold — June 21 Finals Schedule

The tournament culminates tomorrow, June 21, as six PBC flag-bearers step into the squared circle looking to climb to the top of the podium. Our finalists will compete across two blockbuster sessions:

  • Men's 60Kg - Bout 4: Abdumalik Khalokov (UZB) vs. Luiz Gabriel (BRA)

Session 15 — Ring A (Starting 18:30)

  • Men's 65Kg - Bout 3: Marcus Luther (USA) vs. Hugo Grau (FRA)

  • Women's 65Kg - Bout 4: Beatriz Ferreira (BRA) vs. Sacha Hickey (ENG)
