PANAMA CITY, PANAMA – The IV South American Youth Games officially concluded yesterday following a spectacular day of championship boxing. The finals delivered 11 gold medal bouts that showcased the extraordinary depth of talent across the continent, with Venezuela and Brazil emerging at the top of the standings.
Finals Day Highlights: Session 5 Results
The tournament reached its pinnacle with high-stakes matches and clinical performances:
Regional Dominance: Venezuela swept the first two bouts of the day as Grenyelis Garcia (W51kg) and Eudaliz Rodriguez (W54kg) both secured unanimous decision victories.
Standout Performance: Argentina’s Edgardo Peralta (60kg) solidified his status as one of the tournament's top prospects, securing a gold medal with a lightning-fast first-round stoppage (RSC) victory.
Heavyweight Glory: In the final bout of the competition, Panama’s Norman Simmons (90kg) thrilled the local crowd with an exciting 4:1 split decision to claim gold.
Stoppage Victories: Alongside Peralta, Argentina’s Santiago Gimenez (70kg) claimed gold with a second-round RSC victory.
Tactical Excellence: Brazil’s Gustavo Domingues (55kg) won a tightly contested 3:2 split decision to earn his gold.
