Panamerican Delegation Secures Historic Medal Haul at World Boxing Cup Stage 1

FOZ DO IGUAÇU, BRAZILPanamerican Boxing Confederation (PBC) has concluded a landmark performance at the World Boxing Cup – Stage 1, finishing with a total of 19 medals. Following a high-intensity final day of competition, the delegation secured 5 Gold medals and 7 Silver medals to complement 7 Bronze medals earned during the semifinal rounds.

Championship Final Highlights

The final day of action at the Ginásio Costa Cavalcanti saw Panamerican athletes step onto the podium in nearly every major weight category:

  • Gold Medal Victories:

    • Luiz Gabriel Oliveria (BRA) captured gold in an all-Panamerican final at M-60kg, defeating USA’s Salim Ellis Bey via unanimous decision. Ellis Bey took home silver after a strong week of performances.

    • Yuri Falcão (BRA) delivered a dominant 4:1 performance to defeat Japan’s Shion Nishiyama at M-65kg.

    • Wanderley Pereira (BRA) secured a 5:0 unanimous decision victory over Croatia’s Gabrijel Veočić at M-80kg.

    • Isaias Filho (BRA) shut out Spain’s Enmanuel Reyes Pla with a unanimous decision at M-90kg.

    • Omailyn Alcala (VEN) brought home gold for Venezuela with a clinical unanimous decision victory over Hungary at W-57kg.

  • Silver Medalists:

    • Salim Ellis Bey (USA) claimed silver at M-60kg.

    • Rebeca Santos (BRA) secured silver at W-60kg after dropping a close 1:4 decision to Viktoriya Grafeyeva (KAZ).

    • Kaian Reis (BRA) at M-70kg, Thauan Silva (BRA) at M-75kg, Barbara Santos (BRA) at W-75kg, and Kaue Belini (BRA) at M-85kg all concluded the tournament with silver medals following elite-level championship bouts.

    • Fatima Herrera (MEX) fell short in a close bout to her Uzbek opponent, Farzona Fozilova, via 4:1 split decision in the W-48kg division.

The Americas' strong showing was led by host nation Brazil, which finished as the top-performing team in the confederation.

Our athletes will continue this momentum at upcoming tournaments, including the second phase of the World Boxing Cup in China (June), followed by Commonwealth Games and Central American & Caribbean Games in July and August.
