Panamerican Boxing Stars Shine on Opening Day of World Boxing U19 Futures Cup

BANGKOK, THAILAND – Panamerican Boxing Confederation (PBC) athletes started strong at the inaugural U19 World Boxing Futures Cup in Bangkok. Following the first day of competition on March 8, our boxers from across the Americas demonstrated elite skill and determination on the global stage.
Day 1: Full Panamerican Results
Our athletes competed across four intensive sessions, securing several key victories to advance in the tournament:
Victories and Advancements:
Guadalupe Ruiz (USA): Secured a commanding win in the Female 54kg division by RSC against Kyrgyzstan.
Jesfred Torres (PUR): Delivered a masterclass in the Male 60kg category, earning a unanimous decision over Kyrgyzstan.
Refugio Veloz Medrano (USA): Controlled the ring to earn a unanimous decision in the Male 50kg division against Chinese Taipei.
Jayden Willis (CAN): Advanced with a powerful performance in the Male 60kg division, winning by RSC over Libya.
Sofia Ramirez (MEX): Won a hard-fought 4:1 split decision against Chinese Taipei in the Female 54kg category.
Grenyellis Garcia (VEN): Prevailed in a highly technical Panamerican clash against Jehiely Garcia (MEX) in the Female 51kg division, winning by 4:1 split decision.
Yeniree Castillo (VEN): Advanced in the Female 54kg division with a gritty 3:2 split decision win over Turkey.
Evelin Trejos (COL): Secured her place in the next round with a 3:2 split decision victory over Morocco in the Female 54kg category .
Valiant Performances:
Memphis McIntosh (CAN): Put forth a determined effort in a tough bout against Morocco in the Male 50kg division .
Roswell Dominguez (VEN): Represented his nation well in his performance against New Zealand in the Male 50kg category .
Jorge Nieblas (MEX): Showed great heart in a loss to Morocco in the Male 70kg division.
Jefet Misael Escalante Ordonez (HON): Faced a tough opponent from Uzbekistan, falling by decision in the Male 60kg division .
