FOZ DO IGUAÇU, BRAZIL – Panamerican Boxing Confederation (PBC) athletes made a resounding statement on the opening day of the World Boxing Cup – Stage 1, securing critical victories against top-tier international opposition. Highlighting a day of intense action, continental representatives demonstrated elite skill, technical precision, and power in the ring.

Day 1 Highlights: Key Results

The Americas showcased exceptional depth across both rings yesterday, with several athletes securing unanimous and split-decision victories:

• Statement Wins for Venezuela: Diego Andres Pereyra Mejia (VEN) delivered one of the most notable results of the day in the M-80kg division, defeating Tyric Trapp (USA) via unanimous decision. In the M-70kg class, Lisandro Tejada (VEN) advanced after a dominant performance led to an RSC-I victory over Abel Alvarez (MEX). Wilson Solorzano (M-60kg) defeated Angel Estrella (DOM) by 3:1 split decision.

• Home Success for Brazil: Top-seeded heavyweight Isaias Filho (BRA) thrilled the local crowd at M-90kg, securing a unanimous decision over Kazakhstan’s Daulet Tulemissov. In the M-70kg division, Kaian Reis (BRA) advanced with a hard-fought 4:1 split decision victory over Kelvin Soquessa (CZE).

• Dominant Performance by Dominican Republic: Ricardo Cuello Ricardo (DOM) pulled off a strong victory in the M-70kg division, defeating Magomed Schachidov (GER) with a clinical unanimous decision. At M-80kg, Noel Pacheco (DOM) also moved forward with a unanimous win over Tunisia. Katherine Jessica Bera edged out a 3:2 split decision victory over Mexico’s Paula Hernandez in a F-60kg bout.

• Argentina & Canada Advance: Brandon Amaya (ARG) (M-70kg), Scarlett Delgatdo (CAN) (F-54kg), and Keoma Al-Ahmadieh (CAN) (M-60kg) all secured commanding unanimous decisions. Nahuel Roldan (ARG) (M-80kg) also progressed following a gritty 3:2 split decision over Belgium. Canada’s Josh Ofori (M-80kg) closed out the evening with a win by abandonment in the third round.

• American Cruises to Next Round: Salim Ellis Bay (USA) dominated the scorecards and controlled the ring against Hungary’s Kruzito Kovacs in a unanimous victory in the M-60kg division.
