Panamerican Boxing Confederation Celebrates the Opening of Boxing Tournament at XIII South American Games Santa Fe 2026 in Rafaela

RAFAELA, ARGENTINA – The boxing tournament of the XIII South American Games officially gets underway this afternoon at 3:00 PM local time in Rafaela, Santa Fe, launching six days of high-stakes continental competition.

A total of 79 elite boxers (28 women and 51 men) representing 13 National Olympic Committees and nations across South America and the Caribbean have completed technical checks and entered the tournament brackets:

  • Argentina (ARG)

  • Bolivia (BOL)

  • Brazil (BRA)

  • Chile (CHI)

  • Colombia (COL)

  • Curaçao (CUW)

  • Ecuador (ECU)

  • Guyana (GUY)

  • Panama (PAN)

  • Paraguay (PAR)

  • Suriname (SUR)

  • Uruguay (URU)

  • Venezuela (VEN)

Athletes will compete across 12 weight categories—five women's divisions (51kg, 54kg, 57kg, 65kg, 75kg) and seven men's divisions (55kg, 60kg, 65kg, 70kg, 80kg, 90kg, +90kg). The female 60kg and 70kg divisions are uncontested.

The opening afternoon session features 10 preliminary and quarterfinal bouts across the women’s 51kg and 57kg divisions, as well as the men’s 55kg, 65kg, and 70kg divisions. The tournament will progress through quarterfinal and semifinal rounds throughout the week, culminating in the championship finals on Friday, September 18.

  • Bout 3 | Women's 57kg (Quarterfinal): Akeelah Vancooten (GUY) vs. Minerva Mereles (PAR)

  • Bout 4 | Women's 57kg (Quarterfinal): Helen Sanchez (ECU) vs. Luz Arancibia (ARG)

  • Bout 5 | Men's 55kg (Quarterfinal): Diego Moringo (PAR) vs. Santiago Tulian (ARG)

  • Bout 6 | Men's 55kg (Quarterfinal): Billy Arias (ECU) vs. Luis Santos (PAN)

  • Bout 7 | Men's 55kg (Quarterfinal): Noe Barrientos (BOL) vs. Lucas Garcia (URU)

  • Bout 8 | Men's 55kg (Quarterfinal): Michael Trindade (BRA) vs. Andres Mendoza (VEN)

  • Bout 9 | Men's 65kg (Preliminary): Jose Añez (BOL) vs. Domelzo Schet (SUR)

  • Bout 10 | Men's 70kg (Preliminary): Gonzalo Weiler (PAR) vs. Shakquain James (GUY)
