Panamerican Boxing Confederation (PBC), proudly affiliated with World Boxing, has officially released its formal Qualification Procedures for the Lima 2027 Pan American Games. Concurrently, PBC has opened the application process for National Federations interested in bidding to host two landmark events: the 2027 2nd Pan American Games Qualifier and the 2027 Panamerican Youth Continental Championships. These Qualification Guidelines and Bidding Documents are now available on the Confederation’s website.
Early and Clear Pathways to Lima 2027
Built on the core principles of fairness, transparency, and an athlete-first approach, the newly published qualification system for boxing at 2027 Pan American Games outlines a predictable and objective roadmap to the podium for every National Federation in the region. The system establishes a total quota of 112 boxers, evenly divided with 56 female and 56 male spots across the 14 Olympic divisions.
The qualification pipeline is structured into distinct phases to maximize opportunity and ensure earned placement in the ring:
Phase 1 (2026 Pan American Championships): Taking place from October 17–25, 2026, in Puebla, Mexico, the four semi-finalists in each Olympic weight division of the Continental Championships will secure a quota place for their National Federation.
Phase 2 (2027 2nd Pan American Games Qualifier): Staged in the first quarter of 2027, this event will award three quota places per division. To eliminate ambiguity, the third spot will be decided by a decisive Box-Off between the two losing semi-finalists.
Phase 3 (Host Country Allocation): As the host nation, Peru is guaranteed one quota per weight category, bringing the total allocation to 14 spots.
"We are deeply committed to a future where the integrity of boxing matches the excellence of the athletes who compete in it," said Elise Seignolle, President of Panamerican Boxing Confederation. "This qualification system provides our coaches, athletes, and administrators the early technical clarity they require to plan their high-performance cycles with absolute confidence."
Bidding Opened for Prime 2027 Continental Tournaments
National Federations are invited to submit bids to bring high-level international boxing to their home countries. PBC is targeting experienced local organizing committees capable of delivering high-impact, sustainable sporting spectacles.
The 2027 2nd Pan American Games Qualifier will represent the final competitive opportunity for boxers to capture an elusive ticket to Lima, with the added benefit of serving as a vital competition opportunity prior to the 2027 World Boxing Championships (first LA28 qualification opportunity) in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The 2027 Panamerican Youth Continental Championships highlights the organization's developmental focus. While the U19 tournament is mandatory for host applicants, bidding federations are encouraged to consider including U17 championships to broaden youth participation and fortify regional boxing development systems.
Completed online bidding questionnaires and supporting documentation (emailed to the PBC Sport & Competition Committee competitions@panamericanboxing.org) must be submitted by July 31, 2026. After reviewing bids and selecting hosts, PBC plans to publish its 2027 Competition Calendar in September 2026. For technical inquiries, please contact the PBC Sport and Competition Committee.
