FOZ DO IGUAÇU, BRAZIL – Panamerican Boxing Confederation (PBC) continued its strong momentum on Day 2 of the World Boxing Cup, securing vital victories across multiple weight divisions. Continental athletes demonstrated exceptional technical proficiency as the field narrowed in Foz do Iguaçu.

Day 2 Highlights: Key Results

The Americas celebrated several standout performances today, including hard-fought tactical wins and dominant clean sweeps:

• Regional Rivalry Results: In an all-Americas clash at W-51kg, Esther Jimenez (DOM) advanced over Irismar Cardozo (VEN) with a clinical unanimous decision. Venezuela’s Omailyn Alcala returned the favor, besting Genesis de la Rose (DOM) by unanimous decision in the W-57kg division. Argentina’s Delfina Arancibia controlled the pace against Minerva Montiel (PAR), winning by unanimous decision. Dominican Republic’s Fredelin de los Santos bested Mexico’s Christopher Santos in the M-55kg division, and USA’s Kelvin Watts defeated Enzo Gallardo (ARG) by 3:1 split decision.

• Technical Dominance: Guadalupe Torres (MEX) put on a masterclass at W-57kg, securing a unanimous decision victory over Morocco’s Khadija Sifr. In the same division, USA’s Alyssa Mendoza handled 2024 Paris Olympian Michaela Walsh from Ireland by unanimous decision. Her teammate Marcus Luther (M-65kg) dominated Libya’s Yazin Salah Aldeen Ali Alhuwayj with multiple 10:8 rounds in route to unanimous decision victory. In the F-65kg division, USA’s Marie Rosendo handled Turkey’s Sema Caliskan by sweeping the scorecards. Gabriel Labrie (CAN) showed great ring generalship in a convincing unanimous decision victory over Kosovo’s Shpetim Bajoku in the M-65kg class. In the same division, Dominican Republic’s Miguel Angel bested Zehui Zhang of China by way of unanimous decision.

• Split Decision Success: Brazil’s Juci Cerqueira edged France’s Sthelyne Grosy by 3:2 split decision in the W-57kg division, and Lorenzo Patricio (USA) showed great resilience in the M-55kg division, defeating Morocco’s Othman Chadghour in a 4:1 split decision. Mexico’s Hugo Barron edged out a competitive 3:2 split decision victory over Bulgaria’s Viktorio Iliev in a M-65kg showdown. His teammate, Darianne Hernandez, controlled the match against China’s Shuoyo Zhao in a 4:1 split decision victory in the F-57kg division.
