GUIYANG, CHINA – Boxing standouts representing Panamerican Boxing Confederation (PBC) Members put on an incredible display of skill and resilience during Sessions 4, 5, and 6 of the World Boxing Cup - Stage 2. Securing critical knockout stoppages, masterclass decision victories, and hard-fought tournament advancements, athletes from across the Americas left an indelible mark on the international field in Guiyang.
The most recent ring sessions, with full results available on our website, highlighted several monumental victories for Panamerican fighters:
Devastating Stoppages: Mexico’s Hugo Barron electrified the crowd in the Elite Men's 65Kg division during Session 4, defeating Singapore's Caelan James Clark via a stellar Referee Stops Contest (RSC) concluding at the 2:20 mark of the second round. In Session 5, Brazil’s Tati De Jesus showcased brutal efficiency in the Elite Women's 54Kg division, stopping Afghanistan's Lala Kargar in the third round. USA’s Isabella Winkler forced an Abandonment (ABD) in the third round of her bout against Ireland’s Evelyn Igharo.
Unanimous Masterclasses: Marcus Luther of the USA put on a tactical clinic in his Men's 65Kg preliminary bout, cruising past Saudi Arabia's Mousa Alhavsaw to capture a clear unanimous decision victory. On the women's side, Viviane Pereira of Brazil completely dismantled Uzbekistan's Rayhona Kurbonboeva in their 70Kg contest, earning a flawless unanimous sweep from the judges. Mexico's second-seeded Fatima Herrera secured a brilliant unanimous decision win over China's Guanyun Xiong in their high-stakes Elite Women's 48Kg Quarterfinal. USA's Lorenzo Patricio systematically outboxed Singapore's Clayden Teo in the Men's 55Kg class to bring home a sweeping 5:0 scorecard.
Clutch Decision Victories: Meanwhile, in a heavily tactical battle, Mexico’s Christopher Santos ground out a stellar 3:0 decision victory over Germany’s Ali El Sari. Brazil’s Kelvy Trindade put on a spectacular, gritty display to outpoint Kazakhstan’s Timur Kabdeshov in a close 3:1 decision victory.
All-Panamerican Showdown: In a highly anticipated Elite Women's 75Kg Quarterfinal matchup, Canada's premier champion Tammara Thibeault edged past her continental rival, Venezuela's Maryelis Yriza, taking a highly competitive 4:1 split decision win to advance further in the bracket.
The day was not without its heartbreakingly close battles. Canada’s Gabriel Labrie fell just short in a tight 4:1 split decision defeat to China's seventh-seeded Xin Jin, and Venezuela's Andres Cova was outpointed 5:0 by local favorite Jiamao Zhang. Additionally, USA's second-seeded Yoseline Perez was outmatched 5:0 by Thailand’s Natnicha Chongprongklang. USA's Naomi Graham dropped a 5:0 decision to China's Ziyi Bao, and USA's Deborah Grant fell 5:0 to India's Prachi Prachi.
The thrilling action moves forward into June 17 with a massively expanded schedule spanning Sessions 7 and 8 across both Ring A and Ring B. A heavy lineup of PBC warriors are scheduled to step inside the squared circle:
