GUADALAJARA, MEXICO – Local spirits soared at the Domo del Code Jalisco yesterday as Mexican boxers secured a string of decisive victories during the Quarterfinal stage of the 2026 Central American & Caribbean Games Qualifier. As the athletes marched forward on their road to Santo Domingo 2026, the day was marked by high-impact stoppages and tactical masterclasses from the region’s top elite talent.

March 12 Recap: Mexico Leads the Charge

The host nation enjoyed a banner day, highlighted by several standout performances:

• Local Heroes: Valeria Amparan (MEX) thrilled the home crowd in the Elite Female 51kg division, advancing by RSC. In the evening session, Paula Hernandez (MEX) and Hugo Barron (MEX) both secured RSC victories in their respective 60kg and 65kg bouts.

• Consistent Strength: Citlalli Vanessa Ortiz (MEX) earned a hard-fought 4:1 split decision over her Cuban opponent, while Lorien Alonso (MEX) advanced with a unanimous decision in the Female 75kg division.

• Regional Powerhouses: Cuba remained a force to be reckoned with, as Yusnier Sorsano (CUB) and Erislandy Alvarez (CUB) both advanced via stoppages. Meanwhile, Colombia saw success with a unanimous victory for Juan Patiño (COL) in the Male 90+kg division and an RSC win for Alexander Rangel (COL) at 70kg.
