GUADALAJARA, MEXICO – The 2026 Central American & Caribbean Games Qualifier at the Domo del Code Jalisco reaches a fever pitch today as the tournament moves into the critical semifinal rounds. While several athletes have already secured their spots on the podium, the final semifinal field will be determined today with the conclusion of the Men’s 80kg quarterfinals.

March 13 Recap: Powerhouses Advance

Yesterday’s action saw dominant performances from several regional powerhouses as they solidified their paths toward the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026:

• Elite Women's 54kg: Diana Maestre (VEN) advanced with a clinical unanimous decision victory over Mexico. Carysney García (CUB) also moved forward following a dominant performance resulting in an RSC victory.

• Elite Men's 55kg: Daniel Mijangos (GUA) secured a 4:1 split decision win, while Alejandro Claro Fiz (CUB) remained unbeaten with a unanimous decision victory.

• Elite Men's 60kg: The division was highlighted by a series of unanimous decisions for Geronimo Seide (HAI), Saidel Horta (CUB), and Wilson Solorzano (VEN). Yilmar Gonzalez (COL) delivered a standout performance, winning his bout by KO.

• Elite Men's 90kg: In the heavyweight ranks, Jhojan Caicedo (COL) advanced with a unanimous win, while Julio La Cruz (CUB) demonstrated his championship form with a shutout victory.

The intensity continues today, March 14, with a high-stakes midday session starting at 12:00 PM local time. Today’s winners will be one step closer to gold!

Featured Semifinal Bouts:

• Elite Women’s 51kg: Leidy Rivas (COL) vs. Irismar Cardozo (VEN) and Yuliett Hinestroza (PAN) vs. local favorite Valeria Amparan (MEX).

• Elite Women’s 70kg: Citlalli Vanessa Ortiz (MEX) faces Fredly Gabriela Ramirez Gutierrez (NCA), while Shirleidis Orozco (COL) meets Kiria Cortes (PAN).

• Elite Men’s 70kg: Abel Alvarez (MEX) takes on Yusnier Sorsano (CUB), followed by Alexander Rangel (COL) vs. Lisandro Tejada (VEN).

The semifinal field for the 80kg division will be set today following these four bouts:
