GUADALAJARA, MEXICO – The 2026 Central American & Caribbean Games Qualifier at the Domo del Code Jalisco came to a historic close yesterday, showcasing a balanced and highly competitive Panamerican boxing landscape. With 14 gold medals distributed among four different nations and a total of 11 countries reaching the podium, the tournament underscored the immense depth of talent across the region as the athletes marched forward towards Santo Domingo 2026.
A Landmark Session for the Americas
The championship bouts provided a definitive look at the regional powerhouses heading toward Santo Domingo 2026:
Mexico’s Golden Women: The host nation delivered a stellar performance in the female divisions, capturing four gold medals through Valeria Amparan (51kg), Darianne Hernandez (65kg), Citlalli Vanessa Ortiz (70kg), and Lorien Alonzo (75kg).
Cuba’s Mastery: Cuba asserted its dominance in the lower and middleweight male classes, sweeping five consecutive gold medals from Alejandro Claro Fiz (55kg) up to Keylor Garcia (80kg).
Colombia’s Comprehensive Success: Colombia secured four gold medals in total. This was highlighted by the sweep of the heaviest male divisions as Jhojan Caicedo (90kg) and Juan Patiño (90+kg) both earned titles.
Venezuela’s Elite Standing: Venezuela maintained a constant presence on the podium throughout the day, led by Omailyn Alcala’s gold medal in the women’s 57kg division and five additional silver medals in the finals.
