GUADALAJARA, MEXICO – The 2026 Central American & Caribbean Games Qualifier at the Domo del Code Jalisco has reached its most critical phase. Following a high-octane day of competition on March 14, the final contenders have emerged for the semifinal rounds, moving one step closer to the podium on the road to the Santo Domingo 2026 games.

March 14 Recap: Semifinal Spots Secured

Yesterday’s session featured critical semifinal bouts in the lighter weight classes and pivotal quarterfinal matchups in the 80kg division:

  • Female 51kg Semifinals: In a split decision, Irismar Cardozo (VEN) defeated Leidy Rivas (COL) 3:2. Local favorite Valeria Amparan (MEX) advanced to the finals with a 4:1 victory over Panama’s Yuliett Hinestroza.

  • Female 70kg Semifinals: Citlalli Vanessa Ortiz (MEX) advanced via abandonment (ABD) against Fredly Gabriela Ramirez Gutierrez (NCA). Shirleidis Orozco (COL) secured her final spot with a unanimous decision over Kiria Cortes (PAN).

  • Male 70kg Semifinals: Cuba’s Yusnier Sorsano delivered a strong performance, stopping Mexico's Abel Alvarez via RSC. Alexander Rangel (COL) joined the final field with a unanimous win over Lisandro Tejada (VEN).

  • Male 80kg Quarterfinals: The final semifinalists were decided as Diego Motoa (COL), Keylor García (CUB), Diego Pereyra (VEN), and Charles Cox (BAR) all secured victories with two of these coming by way of RSC.

Today’s Preview: A Marathon of Semifinals

The intensity reaches a new high today, March 15, with two major sessions dedicated to deciding the finalists across multiple weight categories.

Midday Session (12:00 PM local time) – While there are semifinal bouts across the Female 57kg, Female 65kg, Female 75kg, Male 60kg, Male 65kg, and Male 90+kg divisions, here are a few of the key matchups:

  • Women’s 57kg: Gabriela Cárcamo (ESA) faces Magda Massó (CUB), while Guadalupe Torres (MEX) takes on Omailyn Alcala (VEN).

  • Men’s 60kg: A highly anticipated clash features Geronimo Seide (HAI) against Saidel Horta (CUB).

Evening Session (5:00 PM local time) – The evening session includes semifinal contests across the Female 54kg, Female 60kg, Male 55kg, Male 80kg, and Male 90kg divisions. Check out some of these high-profile matchups:
