Championship Monday Set in Guadalajara as Semifinals Conclude

GUADALAJARA, MEXICO – The 2026 Central American & Caribbean Games Qualifier at the Domo del Code Jalisco has reached its peak. Following two high-stakes semifinal sessions yesterday, the stage is set for a massive day of championship bouts as athletes fight for regional supremacy on the path to Santo Domingo 2026.

March 15 Recap: Semifinal Highlights

Yesterday’s action determined the finalists across 14 different weight categories:

• Cuban Dominance: The Cuban delegation had a stellar day, with Magda Massó (F57kg), Saidel Horta (M60kg), Erislandy Alvarez (M65kg), Alejandro Claro Fiz (M55kg), Keylor García (M80kg), Julio La Cruz (M90kg), and Fernando Arzola (M90+kg) all advancing to the gold medal round.

• Colombia’s Surge: Colombia secured major finalist spots, including Yeni Arias (F54kg), Camila Camilo (F60kg), Yilmar Gonzalez (M60kg), Juan Patiño (M90+) and Jhojan Caicedo (M90kg), who won his bout via RSC.

• Host Nation Success: Mexico will be well-represented in the finals by Darianne Hernandez (F65kg), who won a unanimous decision, and Lorien Alonso (F75kg), who also swept the scorecards.

• Regional Standouts: Omailyn Alcala (VEN), Maryelis Yriza (VEN), Andy Javier Caballero Lopez (NCA), and Daniel Mijangos (GUA) also punched their tickets to the championships with impressive semifinal victories.
