SANTO DOMINGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC – The XXV Central American & Caribbean Games – Santo Domingo 2026 concluded its semifinal round, delivering 14 high-intensity bouts. With the finalist field officially set, 28 elite boxers across the Americas will battle for continental supremacy during tonight’s Finals.

Semifinals Session 2 saw exceptional performances from host nation Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Venezuela, alongside stoppage wins and major upsets.

Women’s Divisions

  • 51kg: World Youth Champion Valeria Sarahí Amparan Pizarro (MEX) controlled Haiti's Saintelise Jean to win by unanimous decision. Venezuela’s Irismar Del Valle Cardozo Rojas matched that performance, earning a 5:0 victory against Cuba's Dinaybi De Las Nieves Borges.

  • 54kg: Dominican favorite Estefani Almanzar De León swept Mexico’s Ariadna Jeanette Gil Alonso 5:0, while Venezuela’s Diana Alejandra Maestre Marquez earned a 5:0 decision over Cuba’s Carisney Garcia Martinez.

  • 65kg: Mexico’s Darianne Hernandez Olvera earned a 5:0 sweep over Venezuela’s Youly Joselis Mena Leon. Guatemala’s María Victoria Chiroy Hernández produced a stoppage victory, defeating US Virgin Islands' Cindy Claudio via Referee Stops Contest in Round 2.

Men’s Divisions

  • 60kg: Host country fan favorite Disney Ezequiel Medina Gómez (DOM) earned a 5:0 sweep over Trinidad & Tobago's Abdul Taylor. Venezuela's Wilson Alfredo Solorzano Acevedo joined him in the final with a 5:0 win over Guatemala's Brandol Estuardo Pérez Morales.

  • 65kg: Mexico’s Hugo Yahir Barron Leal flexed his power with an RSC stoppage win over Suriname's Domelzo Refelino Schet in Round 2. Dominican Republic's Miguel Ángel Encarnacion thrilled the local fans by taking a 5:0 decision against Puerto Rico's Juliam Gabriel Ortiz Rivera.

  • 70kg: In a thrilling local derby, Dominican Republic’s Ricardo Cuello pulled off a 4:1 decision victory against Puerto Rico’s Angel Gabriel Llanos Perez. Cuba's Yusnier Sorsano Ruiz advanced on the other side with a 4:1 win over Mexico's Abel Alvarez Zayas.

  • 90+kg: Mexico’s Javier Alejandro Cruz Hernandez outworked Ke-ion Gabriel (ISV) for a 5:0 victory. Closing out the night, Colombia’s Juan Pablo Patiño earned a 5:0 victory against Cuba’s heavyweight standout Fernando Alejandro Arzola Lopez.

The culmination of the Santo Domingo 2026 tournament takes place tonight, August 7, starting at 19:00 local time. 14 gold medals will be awarded across women's and men's Olympic weight categories.
